social samvad / Jamshedpur: Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation on June 21. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace,” highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and global harmony.

The event brought together students from Classes IX to XII, Scouts and Guides, teachers, parents, alumni, school management members, and other stakeholders. Conducted in a serene and comfortable environment, the programme provided participants with a refreshing and enriching yoga experience.

School Leaders Inspire Students to Embrace Yoga

The celebration was graced by Academic Director Nandini Shukla, Vice Principal A.L. Abraham, Headmistress Sujata Singh, and Registrar Vrinda Suresh. Their enthusiastic participation encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily practice for maintaining physical fitness, emotional balance, and mental peace.

Principal Rina Banerjee extended her best wishes for the successful conduct of the programme and emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into everyday life for overall well-being.

Yoga Experts Conduct Special Session

The yoga session was led by resource persons Jahnvi Goswami and Mitendra Gorai, who guided participants through various yoga protocols and explained the long-term benefits of regular yoga practice. They were assisted by School Counsellor Nishi Thakur and teacher Lata Panicker.

Dedicated student and teacher volunteers played a key role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the event.

Students Showcase Yoga Skills and Rhythmic Yoga Performance

The programme was hosted by School Vice President Piyu Dey of Class XI and School Pupil Leader Aarushi Choudhary of Class X. Members of the school’s Yoga Club demonstrated a range of sitting, standing, and lying yoga postures while guiding participants in performing them correctly.

One of the highlights of the event was the Rhythmic Yoga presentation by Vindhy Kumar Pandey of Class IX and Tejas Das of Class X, which received tremendous appreciation from the audience.

Participants also practiced Pranayama and Meditation, helping them experience relaxation, improved concentration, and inner peace. The benefits of each asana were explained in detail, reinforcing the significance of yoga in leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

School Reaffirms Commitment to Holistic Development

The successful organization of the International Yoga Day celebration was made possible through the support of the school management and the dedicated efforts of Activity In-charges Shalini Kumar and Payel Roy, along with the office staff who ensured seamless coordination throughout the programme.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to embrace yoga as a way of life and promote holistic health, wellness, mindfulness, and positive living within the school community and beyond.
